The Central government on Friday notified the appointment of judicial officer Golmei Gaiphulshillu Kabui as judge of the Manipur High Court..Union Minister of State with Independent Charge of the Law & Justice Ministry, Arjun Ram Meghwal, tweeted the development.Kabui will be the first woman from scheduled tribe community to serve as a judge in the Manipur High Court, Hindustan Times reported..The Supreme Court collegium had in January this year recommended the names of judicial officers Aribam Guneshwar Sharma and Kabui for elevation as judges of the Manipur High Court..The High Court has sanctioned strength of 5 judges and is currently functioning with 3 judges.It also does not have a permanent Chief Justice at the moment.
