Mecca Masjid case: Judge Ravinder Reddy’s resignation rejected by HC

The resignation of Judge K Ravinder Reddy, who quit after acquitting five accused in the 2007 Mecca Masjid blast case, has reportedly been rejected by the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad..Sources said that the judge sent in his resignation hours after reading out the operative part of the judgement in court on April 16. He is said to have cited personal reasons for putting in his papers..Sources told Bar & Bench that he then proceeded to go on leave for 15 days in the interim. He has reportedly been asked to resume his duties immediately..The Registrar General of the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh High Court, Manavendranath Roy said that he could not comment on the issues without the prior permission of Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan..Judge Reddy’s phone has been unreachable since the news of his resignation first broke..In his judgment, judge Reddy acquitted Swami Aseemanand and four other accused in the Mecca Masjid blasts that took place in 2007. The reason behind the acquittal was that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had failed to establish the role of the accused in the attack, which claimed the lives of nine people and injured fifty..Image taken from here
