Mewar royal family property dispute reaches Delhi High Court

The property dispute between members of the former royal family of Mewar reached the Delhi High Court on Monday.

Justice Subramonium Prasad heard the testamentary cases filed by siblings Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar and Padmaja Kumari Parmar against each other. 

After hearing the case briefly, the Court directed the counsel appearing for Lakshyaraj Singh to file a fresh memo of parties as per the Delhi High Court Rules. 

The Court said that it will hear the matter on January 20. 

The dispute between Padmaja Kumari Parmar and her brother Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar stems from a legal battle over the inheritance and control of properties belonging to their late father, Arvind Singh Mewar, a member of the erstwhile Mewar royal family of Udaipur.

It is stated that Arvind Singh Mewar left a will in February 2025 naming his son Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar as the sole heir to his self-acquired properties. 

Following his death, Lakshyaraj Singh sought letters of administration based on this will in the Rajasthan High Court. 

Padmaja Kumari Parmar challenged the validity of the will before the Bombay High Court.

The two sides subsequently filed transfer petitions in the Supreme Court. Because related matters were being litigated before multiple courts, the Supreme Court in December 2025 ordered all cases to be transferred to the Delhi High Court for a consolidated hearing.
