A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court by NGO Common Cause seeking quashing of adverse orders by the government against CBI Director Alok Verma.

Verma was directed to go on leave by the Central government and M Nageshwar Rao was appointed interim Director of CBI in place of Verma.

The petition also seeks quashing of appointment of M Nageshwar Rao as interim Director.

Interestingly, the petition also prays that Rakesh Asthana be removed from the post of Special Director of CBI.

It has also sought an SIT probe into corruption allegations against CBI officers.

The petition was mentioned before Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi today by advocate Prashant Bhushan for urgent listing.

“Give the details, we will see”, Gogoi J. responded.
