Rajasthan High Court rejects PIL for live streaming of court proceedings

The Rajasthan High Court recently rejected a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking live streaming of the court proceedings [Harshit Dudawat vs The Hon’ble High Court Of Rajasthan]..A division bench of Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice Bhuwan Goyal in a brief order said that since the Court was already providing video conferencing facility to the litigants, it was not inclined to direct live streaming as well. “Taking into consideration that presently video conferencing facility is being provided to all the litigants and the petition seeks specific direction, we are not inclined to issue any direction at this stage,” said the Court..Accordingly, the Court disposed of the PIL moved by one Harshit Dudawat.Advocates Sakshi Srivastava and advocate Neetu Singh represented the petitioner.Senior Advocate AK Sharma and Advocate Vishnu Kant Sharma appeared for respondents..The hearings of Gujarat High Court, Gauhati High Court, Calcutta High Court, Telangana High Court, Orissa High Court and certain other courts are already being live streamed.
