AP High Court fixes remuneration of Hyderabad Cricket Association CoA at 1 lakh per day

A Division Bench of the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh High Court today agreed to a proposal submitted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Hyderabad Cricket Association to compensate the latter’s Committee of Administrators (CoA) to the tune of one lakh rupees per working day..The Committee, comprising retired Supreme Court judge Justice Anil Dave (pictured) and retired judge of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad Justice GV Seethapathy, was appointed on March 23 this year..It came into being in the face of a Public Interest Litigation which alleged that the elected administration had not complied with a Supreme Court order mandating the implementation of the Justice RM Lodha Committee’s recommendations..The Supreme Court appointed the Committee headed by former Chief Justice of India Lodha, after allegations of match fixing during the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League surfaced. The Lodha Committee had suggested sweeping reforms in the administration of cricket in the country..According to the memo submitted by the BCCI today, the outstation judge, Justice Dave, will be entitled to an additional sum of Rs 50,000 for every visit to Hyderabad..Noting that most of the Lodha Committee’s recommendations had been complied with under the new administration, the Bench of Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice M Ganga Rao observed there were a few that needed to be worked on, and that the COA would continue in office until such time as they had implemented the recommendations in their entirety..The Court ordered the BCCI to clear outstanding dues within three weeks, and deduct the same from payments due to the Hyderabad Cricket Assocation. It also observed that the remuneration aspect had been overlooked when the Committee was appointed, and it was only when the BCCI made an application that the Court had realised its error..Click here to download the Bar & Bench Android App
