The Delhi High Court on Tuesday refused to hear urgently a public interest litigation (PIL) petition seeking directions to the Delhi University (DU) to ensure that each and every college affiliated to DU has hostel facilities for students.
Advocate Vimal Tyagi appeared before a Division Bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia and mentioned the matter for urgent hearing today.
Chief Justice Upadhyaya said no such interim directions can be issued today. The Court also said that a PIL was already heard yesterday.
Tyagi told the Bench that his prayers are different from the PIL already heard.
However, the Court asked the lawyer to file the PIL, and it will be auto-listed.
"Tomorrow is Wednesday [PIL day in Delhi HC]. File your petition, it will be taken up tomorrow. Unnecessarily, you waste your own time. Please, can by way of interim direction, such a direction be issued?" the Court remarked.
