The Supreme Court Collegium on Monday recommended the appointment of 19 persons as judges of the Madras High Court.

The 19 names recommended by the Collegium include 10 advocates and 9 judicial officers.

The Collegium recommended the appointment of the following advocates as judges of the Madras High Court:

P Murugan, MD Sumathi, S Alli, C Thirumagal Chandrasekar, Dharmalingam Lingeswaran, Karthikeyan Balathandayutham, Natarajan Ramesh, GK Muthukumaar, Ramakrishnan Rajesh Vivekananthan, Sankaranarayanan Raveekumar, Nagarajan Dilip Kumar and Ellappan Manoharan.

The following judicial officers have been recommended for elevation:

Krishnaswamy Govindarajan, Rajnish Pathiyil, K Appadurai alias Kandavel Appadurai, Ramasamy Anitha, Shanmugam Karthikeyan, Baluchamy Murugesan and N Gunasekaran.

The recommendations were made on the basis of four proposals dated November 4, 2025, November 21, 2025, December 7, 2025 and December 10, 2025, which were considered by the Collegium at its meeting held on May 18, 2026.
