Supreme Court collegium recommends appointment of 4 advocates as Telangana High Court judges

Gouse Meera Mohiuddin, Chalapathi Rao Suddala, Vakiti Ramakrishna Reddy and Gadi Praveen Kumar’s names have been recommended for judgeship.

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of four advocates as judges of the Telangana High Court.

In the meetings held on July 1 and July 2, the Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai and also consisting of Justices Surya Kant and Vikram Nath recommended the appointment of the following as judges:

  • Gouse Meera Mohiuddin

  • Chalapathi Rao Suddala

  • Vakiti Ramakrishna Reddy

  • Gadi Praveen Kumar

The Telangana High Court is currently functioning with a strength of 26 judges, as against a sanctioned strength of 42.

Notably, Bar & Bench reported today that the Collegium has tightened the process for selection of judges and intensified scrutiny of candidates.

It was also revealed that the Collegium interacted with a total of 54 candidates in 2 days to fill High Court judge vacancies.
