Supreme Court grants bail after noting delay by Jammu & Kashmir High Court in deciding bail plea

The Supreme Court had earlier told the High Court to decide on the plea expeditiously. Since the bail plea could not be taken up by the High Court despite such a direction, the top court decided on the matter itself.

The Supreme Court on Monday granted bail to a man accused of being involved in a dowry death after it was informed that his bail plea had been pending before the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh for months without a decision [Arjun Kattal vs. The State of Jammu and Kashmir].
