The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted bail to Congress leader and former Rajasthan minister Mahesh Joshi in a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Central government's Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Rajasthan.

A Bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and AG Masih passed the order.

Joshi, the former Public Health and Development Department minister during the Congress regime, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in April this year.

According to ED, a private firm deposited ₹50 lakh into the company owned by the minister's son. The ED has claimed that this was a bribe.

The Rajasthan High Court had rejected his appeal in August prompting him to approach the top court.

Joshi told the Court that all the other accused in the case have already been granted bail in the case.

He sought parity and also denied allegations of bribery.

Senior Advocate Sidharth Luthra and advocate Vivek Jain appeared for Joshi.
