Supreme Court issues advisory against fake websites impersonating its official portal

The Supreme Court on Thursday warned the public against fraudulent websites impersonating its official online portal.

In a public notice, the Supreme Court registry specifically highlighted one website sp-court-in.com which is currently impersonating the official website of the top court.

The said the website may deceive people through phishing mechanisms and could be used to obtain sensitive personal information and confidential credentials, the notice warned.

"Cybercriminals through the aforementioned link may attempt to solicit sensitive personal data and confidential credentials of the public. All stakeholders are strictly cautioned against divulging any personal / financial information, as such disclosures may facilitate the theft of data by these perpetrators," cautioned the Registry.

The advisory was issued in continuation of earlier public notices dated July 16, 2025 and April 28, 2026, warning about fake websites designed to clone the Supreme Court's official website.

The registry urged people to remain vigilant and verify the authenticity of electronic communications before engaging with them.

It clarified that sci.gov.in is the registered domain of the Supreme Court of India. It further advised users to verify URLs before accessing them by hovering over links before opening them.

The registry also advised anyone who suspects that they may have been targeted by the phishing attempt to immediately change the passwords of their online accounts and inform their banks about any unauthorised access.
