A petition filed by slain captain Saurabh Kalia’s father NK Kalia over his son’s brutal torture and death at the hands of Pakistani army. His father had contended that the atrocities committed should be termed as war crimes and referred to the  International Court of Justice.

2. The Kerala Bar Hotels Association & Anr. v. State of Kerala & Ors.

Item 101 in court 11 – Civil Appeal 4157/2015

A batch of petitions challenging the Kerala government’s liquor policy to disallow bars in all hotels except 5-star hotels. On Friday, Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal argued throughout the day for the Kerala Government. He is expected to continue his submissions today.

Today in Court: Stating that there was no ‘constitutional infirmity’ about the policy of banning liquor and that the government was only looking to ‘bring down consumption of alcohol’, Sibal summed up his arguments today for the State. Senior Counsel Aryama Sundaram began his rejoinder arguments for the Petitioners and is expected to continue tomorrow.

3. Common Cause Vs Union of India & Ors.

A petition filed by NGO Common Cause, highlighting illegalities in mining operations in Odisha. The Court had also asked the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) to submit a report outlining the possible measures that could be undertaken.

Today in Court: Pursuant to the order of March 18, the Bench refused to hear the matter citing Bench composition. The matter is now expected to be listed before a different Bench.

4. Advait Foundation v. UOI & Ors.

Item 13, Court 2: WP (C) No. 123 of 2012

Bench: TS Thakur J., NV Ramana J.

A petition filed by an NGO, Advait Foundation, seeking a moratorium on foreign couples adopting Indian children. The Court had previously issued notice to the CBI, Ministry of Home Affairs and Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) over the issue.
