1. Pramod Mutalik v. State of Goa & Ors.

This petition has been filed by Pramod Mutalik who is the Chief of Right wing organisation Sri Ram Sena. Mutalik has challenged the Bombay High Court order refusing to quash the prohibitory order imposed on him and his associates by the Goa police, thereby banning his entry into Goa on the ground of maintenance of peace in the State.

Today in court: The Court refused to entertain this petition. “You are doing moral policing, entering pubs and beating up girls. For the time being, don’t enter Goa”, said Justice Dattu. The advocate appearing for Mutalik then sought permission to withdraw the petition which was allowed by the court.

2. Sushila Bai Himmat Rao Patil v. State of Maharashtra and Anr.

This petition pertains to Salman Khan hit and run case and has been filed by the mother of deceased police constable, Ravindra Patel. Patel was the complainant and one of the witnesses. The petitioner has sought cancellation of Salman’s bail and has also prayed for her impleadment in the case before the High Court, a prayer already declined by the Bombay High Court.

3. Dhawal Jiwan Mehta v. Nikhil Soni and Ors.

These are a batch of petitions challenging the Rajasthan High Court order declaring the Jain ritual of Santhara a penal offence. The practice, which involves a voluntary fast unto death, was held by the High Court as an attempt to commit suicide which is punishable under Section 309 of the Indian Penal Code.

Today in court: The Court issued notice in the matter and stayed the judgment of the Rajasthan High Court.

An appeal filed by Congress MPs Ambika Shukla and Kumari Selja challenging the Single Bench order that dismissed their plea against eviction.

On the last hearing, the Bench had directed the Union to accommodate the Petitioners in suitable govt accommodation.
