TMC fields Senior Advocate Menaka Guruswamy for Rajya Sabha

The All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) has fielded Senior Advocate Menaka Guruswamy for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

The party announced her candidature along with Babul Supriyo, Rajeev Kumar, and Koel Mallick on a post shared on X (formerly twitter).

If elected, Guruswamy would be the country's first openly queer Member of Parliament.

Pertinently, Guruswamy recently appeared for the TMC in proceedings challenging the Enforcement Directorate’s searches at the premises of I-PAC.
