A plea has been filed before the Delhi High Court flagging heightened communal tensions in Delhi's Uttam Nagar following the recent murder of a 26-year-old Hindu man during Holi..The plea filed by Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) raises concerns about threats of violence in Uttam Nagar during the upcoming Eid festival.The matter was mentioned this morning before a Bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia seeking urgent hearing..Representing APCR, Senior Advocate Nitya Ramkrishnan said that threats are being extended to residents of the area, that a "khoon ki holi" (Holi of blood) will be played this Eid.“There are wide-ranging threats of violence on Eid. On social media, meetings have gathered saying ‘khoon ki holi hum eid pe khelenge’. We went to the police, but the police have not taken any action. We fear serious violence in and around Eid. We want urgent directions to the police. Please look at the kind of threads being issued," Ramkrishnan said..The Court then agreed to list the matter today..On March 4, 26-year-old Tarun Bhutolia's 11-year-old cousin threw a water balloon from their house terrace towards a family member, which hit the ground and accidentally splashed a woman who was passing by.The woman is reported to have initially scolded the girl and left the site. Later the same evening, the woman and her family members are said to have cornered Tarun Bhutolia while he was on his way home and beaten him to death. Since the woman and her family are Muslims, the incident assumed communal colour. On March 8, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) demolished certain "illegal portions" of a house linked to one of the accused in the case. After this move was challenged before the High Court, the MCD submitted that the demolished structure lay on encroached land. The Court, however, orally asked the MCD not to undertake any such further demolition..Update: The case could not be listed today.
