What Punjab & Haryana High Court said in its first order on Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita
Section 531 of the BNSS explicitly specifies that pending appeals shall be disposed of or continued under CrPC, the High Court noted.
In one of the first orders passed under the newly-enacted Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), the Punjab and Haryana High Court has held that Section 531 of the BNSS provides that pending appeals filed before the BNSS came into force has to be adjudicated under the old law , i.e. Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) [Mandeep Singh vs Kulwinder Singh and another].
