Students of the National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal have launched People United for Law, Education and Rehabilitation (PULER), an initiative that aims to keep children who face financial hardships in school.

The Parvarish scheme is designed to ensure that hard-working children in Bhopal can continue their education without being forced to drop out due to financial constraints.

PULER ensures financial assistance to those who need it the most by creating a merit-based pool of students through objective assessments.

The scheme invites individuals and groups to become benefactors for government school students of Mendora village for their education from Class 6 to 12. The support will span six crucial years of schooling at Sharda Vihar School, a private institution in Bhopal.

The average annual cost per child is estimated at ₹26,000 to ₹30,000 per child.

Reflecting on the inception of the Parvarish scheme, PULER NLIU Convenor Kushagra Mahajan shared,

"PULER has been sponsoring children and since 16 years we've gone to government schools to teach English, Science and Maths for Grade 1st- 6th. Through contributions we established a computer lab. However, we felt that what after that? Obviously we could not teach further due to time constraints and logistical issues, we decided to sponsor 5 children a year. We used to do that, but we realized we were not able to collect the desired amount. That's when my team and I came up with the Parvarish scheme. Let's call upon groups or individuals who can give ₹26,000 to ₹30,000 for the purposes of scholarship. We have approached alumni and those who can contribute."

Telling Bar & Bench about PULER's vision, Kushagra stated,

"Sharda Vihar School is usually aimed for by these students because it is nearby and convenient them. We feel it can go beyond. I have spoken to the team and whoever will be succeeding to me will have to take up responsibility of this aspect."

The University and the Student Bar Association have extended their support to PULER's Parvarish initiative.
