A team from Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad has won the 3rd edition of the SGTU Ranka International Trial Advocacy Competition 2026 hosted by the Faculty of Law, SGT University (SGTU) from March 13-15, 2026.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by eminent members of the judiciary and the legal fraternity. Supreme Court of India, Justice JK Maheshwari, Rajasthan High Court, Justice Ashok Kumar Jain, Delhi High Court, Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, and Justice JK Ranka (Retd.).

The judges spoke on a range of topics, including but not limited to, the subtle art of cross-examination, active listening in the witness examination, ethical foundations of the legal profession, and the importance of practical experience from lower courts.

The SGTU Law Journal, Volume 2, Issue 1 was also formally released at the ceremony.

Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad won the competition and received a cash prize of ₹1,00,000. KIIT School of Law secured the runners-up position and received a cash prize of ₹50,000.

The final round was adjudged by Judge, Customs, Excise & Service Tax Appellate Tribunal, Rachna Gupta, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, Pramod Kumar Dubey, Partner (Dispute Resolution), Saraf and Partners, Gauhar Mirza, and Director (Arbitration & Conciliation), Department of Legal Affairs, Avnit Singh Arora.

The competition was coordinated by Assistant Professors, Faculty of Law, SGT University, Maharishi Kr Kasaudhan and Deepshikha Kataria.

The event was organised under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor, SGTU, Prof (Dr) Hemant Verma, and Dean, Faculty of Law, SGTU Prof (Dr) Richa Chaudhary.
