Alliance University invites registrations for 5th Justice N Santosh Hegde Moot Court Competition

The Alliance School of Law invites registrations for the 5th Justice N Santosh Hegde Moot Court Competition, 2026 to be held from March 27-28, 2026.

The competition is centred on an appellate proposition before a simulated Supreme Court of Norland, arising from cross-border displacement caused by environmental and political developments in neighbouring states.

Teams will deal with with nuanced legal issues, including the applicability of fundamental rights to non-citizens, the scope and limits of executive authority under immigration legislation, the constitutional validity of algorithmic classification systems in administrative processes, and the legality of offshore humanitarian processing arrangements.

  • Last date to seek clarification: February 18, 2026

  • Release of clarifications: February 20, 2026

  • Preliminary researcher's test: February 21, 2026

  • Memorial soft copy submission deadline: February 25, 2026

  • Memorial hard copy submission deadline: March 18, 2026

  • Opening ceremony & orientation/ Researcher's test/ Octa-final round/ Quarter-final round: March 27, 2026

  • Semi-final round/ Final round/ Valedictory ceremony: March 28, 2026

Eligibility and registration

The competition is open to students enrolled in 3-year LL.B. and 5-year integrated LL.B. programmes at recognised institutions across India.

Each institution may register one team comprising two or three members (two speakers and one researcher).

Registration Fee: INR 3,000 per team

Prizes

Winner Team: Cash Prize of INR 1,00,000/- & Trophy.

Runners-Up Team: Cash Prize of INR 60,000/- & Trophy.

Best Speaker/ Memorial/ Researcher: Cash Prize of INR 10,000/- & Trophy.

Certificates of Merit shall be awarded to all the teams qualifying for the Quarter-final rounds and beyond. Certificates of Participation shall be given to all the Participating Teams.
