Bar & Bench

Over the last two years, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Abhikriti Singh, a second-year student at the MMCC, Shankarrao Chavan Law College (SCLC) in Pune.

Why did you choose to study law?

The field of law, to me, has always been like a beacon. I developed a general attraction towards the field of 'criminal investigation' as a child, when all I wanted was to be a detective. My analytical skills and observation had earned me the nickname "Sherlock Jr." at a young age.

However, exploring my options in this field is what introduced me to law and it fits me perfectly. I have seen the thought process and multiple perspectives that a lawyer attains through his/her career and the pursuit of this trait had set me on the path of law at a young age itself.

What made you apply for the Campus Ambassador post at Bar & Bench?

I first came across Bar & Bench while I was still an aspirant in this field. The various posts and articles from the firm proved to be my source of updates in current affairs while studying for my entrance exams. Due to this support, Bar & Bench soon became my go-to site for almost all purposes ranging from obtaining information for projects and assignments to reading for staying up-to-date and for exploratory purposes.

Being a part of the very organization which helped me set my foundation in this field would truly be an amazing experience and hence, when the opportunity showed up, I had no second thoughts before applying. It would be an honor to give back to the firm just as I received from it.

What are your plans after completing law?

My journey on the path of law has barely just begun. Although criminal law interests me the most in the current position, i would still like to take time to explore my interests further and act accordingly so that i may have clarity in the next three years as to what i want my actual career to be.
