MNLU Mumbai announces Certificate Course on Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code (IBC)

The course is open to law students, legal professionals, chartered accountants, company secretaries, insolvency professionals, and all those seeking to develop a grounded understanding of insolvency law in India.

Bar & Bench

The Centre for LexTax and IBC (CLTIBC) at Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU) Mumbai has announced the launch of its Certificate Course / Value Added Course on the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.

About the Course

The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 has fundamentally reshaped the landscape of commercial law in India, and continues to evolve through judicial interpretation and legislative reform. Despite its significance, the Code remains one of the more challenging areas for students and practitioners to navigate without structured guidance.

This course has been designed to address that need. Delivered over 40 hours of online weekend sessions, the programme offers a careful and methodical study of the IBC — from the initiation of insolvency proceedings and the role of key institutional actors, to resolution planning, liquidation, and emerging areas such as cross-border insolvency and the 2026 amendments.

Participants will learn from practitioners and academics who engage with these questions in professional and institutional settings, ensuring that the programme remains both conceptually rigorous and practically relevant.

Course Coverage

1. Introduction to financial distress, historical development of insolvency law, and an overview of the IBC, 2016.

2. Institutional framework — IBBI, NCLT, Insolvency Resolution Professionals, and NCLAT.

3. Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) — including resolution plans, eligibility under Section 29A, and avoidable transactions
