NLU Jodhpur wins Leiden Sarin International Air Law Moot

A team from National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ) won the 16th edition of the Leiden Sarin International Air Law Moot Court Competition which was held in Athens, Greece from April 25 to 27.

The team comprised Anshita Tiwari, Raghunandan N and Sarah Singh.

They were also awarded Best Written Submissions (Respondents), Best Oralist Team for the Applicants side, Best Oralist Team (Respondents), and Anshita Tiwari was awarded Best Speaker.

NLU Jodhpur met East China University of Political Science and Law in the final.

Teams from National Law University, Delhi and West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata were also representing India at the competition.

The Leiden Sarin International Air Law Moot Court Competition is based on Aviation Law and Public International Law, with intersections in Competition Law and Environmental Law.

This year's problem revolved around the treaty interpretation of the Chicago Convention and a bilateral agreement between the parties.

Parties argued on the issues of conflict of treaties, the interpretation of the compromissory clause, interpretation of Article 84 of the Chicago convention, fair completion and the violation of Annexure 16, Volume 4 of the Chicago Convention which focuses on Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs)
