The Anti Ragging Committee of National Law University Jodhpur has pulled up six students on the complaint of a first year student.

In a meeting held on July 5, the Committee, after hearing both sides, held that the alleged acts committed by the six students amounted to ragging. The Committee’s report states,

“On hearing both sides, the Committee unanimously concluded that the complained act amounted to ragging as per the student manual and as per the UGC regulation…Considering gravity of the offence, the committee unanimously decided that punishment must be given to prohibit ragging in the university….”

The Committee found that three students were directly involved in the act, two students were playing a passive role and one student was a bystander while the acts were perpetrated. The students were handed out punishments accordingly.

The first three students have been suspended for a year, the two students who played a passive role were suspended for one semester with a fine of Rs. 20,000 each, while the last student was fined Rs. 5000.
