The Dr Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj (RPNLU), in collaboration with AnantLaw has initiated 'Sankalp 51A@ Pahalgam' - a humanitarian endeavour to provide pro bono legal services to families affected by the Pahalgam terror attack.

As part of this initiative, RPNLU and AnantLaw have pledged to provide structured legal and civic assistance to the families affected by the Pahalgam terror attack.

Through the programme, a team of trained and certified paralegal volunteers will provide structured, pro bono assistance to the victims' families.

The initiative is part of RPNLU's Sankalp project, which is inspired by Article 51A of the Constitution of India and stresses on fundamental duties and community services. The project integrates legal assistance, civic support, and humanitarian outreach for those affected by large-scale calamities and acts of violence.

The support extended as part of Sankalp 51A@ Pahalgam will entail helping families with documentation processes, filing for compensation claims, navigating insurance claims, and establishing connections with relevant Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), statutory bodies such as the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA), and the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).

A key feature of this initiative is the commitment to provide services without any financial burden on the victims' families.

All legal and civic assistance will be rendered pro bono, ensuring that the families already grappling with immense emotional and economic hardships are not subjected to further distress.

Speaking on the project, Senior Professor and Vice-Chancellor of RPNLU, Dr. Usha Tandon stated,

"In moments of profound loss, the commitment to justice and humanitarian service must rise above all. Through Sankalp 51A@Pahalgam, we aim not only to provide legal support but also to stand in solidarity with the victims’ families, reaffirming our constitutional duties and collective responsibility as citizens."

Partner at AnantLaw, Anu Monga commented on the innovative model of Sankalp 51A @Pahalgam, which blends legal services with civic engagement, ensuring that victims' families receive timely, dignified, and comprehensive support.

"By connecting affected families with necessary resources and rights, the initiative seeks to restore hope and provide pathways for long-term rehabilitation," Monga said.

RPNLU and AnantLaw's joint effort is a testament to the role of academic institutions and the legal community in rising to address humanitarian crises and advancing the cause of justice beyond the courtroom.

A team of legal and social experts are available to support the families of the victims and can be contacted for help at the following mobile number and email IDs:

  • RPNLU - Ranjit Ram Yadav, +91 9415470443, (Mon to Fri, 9:00 AM -5:00 PM)

  • RPNLU - Dr Prakash Tripathi, prakash@rpnlup.ac.in

  • RPNLU - Dr Sonika, sonika@rpnlup.ac.in

  • AnantLaw - Anu Monga, anu.monga@anantlaw.com

This initiative is part of the 'Sankalp 51A' project series, which was launched by RPNLU earlier this year during the Maha Kumbh 2025 under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Usha Tandon.

A dedicated team of trained paralegal volunteers from RPNLU had earlier provided legal and civic assistance to pilgrims and families who attended the Mahakumbh as part of this project.

Building upon the lessons and successes of the Mahakumbh endeavour, RPNLU has now committed to extending similar support to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
