Supreme Court calls for applications to law clerk/research associate posts

The Part I exam has been scheduled for March 7; last date to register is February 7, 2026.

The Supreme Court has invited applications for approximately 90 candidates for engagement as law clerks-cum-research associates with a remuneration of ₹1,00,000/- per month for the term 2026-27.

Candidates will be assigned on a full-time, contractual basis and will not be able to accept other assignments or practice as an advocates in any court of law during their term.

Essential qualifications

  • Law graduate from a school/college/university/institution recognized by the Bar Council of India.

  • Candidates in the final year of their law degree are eligible to apply.

  • Candidates should have research and analytical skills, writing abilities and ability to use search engines such as e-SCR, Manupatra, SCC Online, LexisNexis, Westlaw.

The candidate must not be below the age of 20 years and above 32 years as on February 7, 2026.

Selection will be conducted in 3 phases:

Part I - Multiple choice based questions, testing the candidates’ ability to understand and apply the law and comprehension skills.

Part II - Subjective written test, covering writing and analytical skills.

Part III - Interview.

The Part I written test will be conducted in online mode on March 7, 2026.

The model answer key will be uploaded on the website on March 8, 2026 until 11:59 PM on March 9, 2026.

Candidates are required to pay an application/test fee of ₹750/- plus bank charges, if applicable, through online mode only.

The last date to register is February 7, 2026.
