VIT School of Law wins 2nd MNLU Nagpur Moot Court Competition

The VIT team triumphed over institutions such as NALSAR, NLSIU and TNNLU and also bagged the Best Researcher award in the competition.

The moot court team of VIT School of Law, VIT Chennai, comprising of N Asmitha, M Shuaib Ahmed and C Hrudhyaa Gayathri, were adjudged as the winners of 2nd Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, Moot Court Competition held from February 17 to 19, 2023.

The team also bagged the Best Researcher award and won a combined cash prize of ₹28,000/-.

The moot problem of the final round sought to discuss the contemporary issues of encryption and decryption of messages under the IT Rules, 2021 in the backdrop of fundamental rights and the concept of parliamentary privileges. 

The round was judged by a distinguished panel of Hon’ble Justice GA Sanap, Judge, Bombay High Court (Nagpur Bench), Ganpati Hegde, Partner, Dua Associates, Veena Sivaramakrishnan, Partner, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Abhinav Maker, Partner, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, and Sangram Sirpurkar, Advocate, Bombay High Court.

Around 42 teams were registered, out of which 20 teams participated in the final round of the competition. Some of the prominent law schools that participated included NALSAR, NLSIU, Symbiosis Pune, Symbiosis Noida, OP Jindal Global University, Tamil Nadu National Law University and others.
