Rajaram Legal, CAM lead on UpGrad’s $120mn fundraise from Temasek

The Mumbai-based firm will utilize the funds to expand outside India and acquire smaller firms

Online higher education company, upGrad Education Private Limited has raised $120 million in Series 1 fundraise from Singapore-based Temasek.

The ed-tech company was founded in 2015 by Ronnie Screwvala, Mayank Kumar and Phalgun Kompalli. The Mumbai-based firm will utilize the funds to expand outside India and acquire smaller firms.

Rajaram Legal advised upGrad, with a team led by Managing Partner Archana Rajaram along with Senior Associate Mihir Roy and Associates Kanchana SP and Jagdish Kaisare.

Temasek was represented by Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas,

The CAM team was led by Partners Reeba Chacko and S Harish with Senior Associate Saloni Shroff and Associate Vasujith Ram.
