TT&A, DSK Legal act on Sumitomo Corp – TruAlt Bioenergy JV

Sumitomo Corp will acquire 49% stake in TruAlt Gas for the formation of this JV.

Sumitomo Corporation is set to collaborate with TruAlt Bioenergy Limited to operate TruAlt Sumi Gas Private Limited as a joint venture company for the purpose of developing and setting up compressed biogas plants.

The deal pertains to formation of a joint venture by Sumitomo and TruAlt Bioenergy for production of compressed biogas and associated by products, and acquisition by Sumitomo of 49% stake in TruAlt Sumi Gas from its existing shareholder.

The JV shall set-up 16 compressed biogas (CBG) plants in a phased manner across India, with operations scheduled to begin in 2026. Beyond CBG, the collaboration will also explore bioethanol expansion and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production advancing TruAlt’s vision of a Farm-to-Fuel-to-Flight circular bioeconomy and reinforcing India’s path toward energy independence and net-zero ambitions.
