Proceedings at the Bombay High Court were disrupted on Friday after the premises were vacated following a bomb scare.

Lawyers, litigants and court staff were asked to leave the building as a precautionary measure, and security personnel cordoned off the area. Bomb detection and disposal squads were immediately deployed to carry out checks.

Court hearings were suspended as the police and security agencies began combing operations.

The development came close on the heels of similar events that transpired in Delhi High Court on Friday morning after the proceedings came to an abrupt halt following a bomb threat via email.

Authorities in Mumbai have not yet issued a formal statement on the situation at the Bombay High Court.

Further updates are awaited.
