Central government clears appointment of advocate Ajit Kumar as Patna High Court judge

The Patna High Court is currently functioning with a strength of 36 judges as against a sanctioned strength of 53, a vacancy position of 17.

The Central government on Friday cleared the appointment of advocate Ajit Kumar as a judge of the Patna High Court.

A notification to that effect was issued by the Law Ministry.

"In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Ajit Kumar, to be a Judge of the Patna High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," read the notification.

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his name for the elevation on July 3.
