Kait J to return to Delhi HC? Collegium recommends transfer of three HC judges

Aditya AK

Through resolutions passed on September 7, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer of three High Court judges.

The five seniormost judges of the Apex Court have acceded to the request of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait to be transferred back to the Delhi High Court. Justice Kait was transferred to the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad in April 2016. He was appointed as an additional judge of the Delhi High Court in 2008.

Justice Kotiswar Singh of the Manipur High Court has been recommended for transfer to the Gauhati High Court. In a similar move, additional judge of the Gauhati High Court Justice Lanusungkum Jamir has been recommended for a move to the Manipur High Court.

The Collegium also turned down the request of the Chhattisgarh High Court’s Justice Pritinker Diwaker to reconsider his transfer to the Allahabad High Court, which was recommended in January this year. The resolution states,

“The Collegium does not find any merit in his representation and is, therefore, of the opinion that the request made by Mr. Justice Pritinker Diwaker cannot be acceded to. The Collegium accordingly resolves to reiterate its recommendation dated 10th January, 2018 for his transfer, in interest of better administration of justice, to the Allahabad High Court.”
