The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer of two Gujarat High Court judges.
The decision was taken in Collegium meetings held on August 25 and 26.
Justice Manvendranath Roy has been recommended for a transfer to the Andhra Pradesh High Court (his parent High Court) while Justice Sandeep Natvarlal Bhatt has been recommended for transfer to the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Justice Roy practiced in Parvathipuram and Vizianagaram for 14 years before being selected as a District and Sessions Judge in 2002.
On June 20, 2019, he was elevated as Judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, becoming the first judge appointed after its reconstitution in 2019, and was confirmed as a permanent judge on June 12, 2019.
In November 2023, Justice Roy was transferred to the Gujarat High Court, where he assumed charge on November 2, 2023.
Justice Bhatt graduated in science from Kotak Science College at Rajkot in 1988 and obtained his Law degree in 1992. He enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of Gujarat on January 23, 1993.
He began his legal career in 1993 at the Rajkot District Court, practicing with his father, NS Bhatt, former Vice Chairman of the Bar Council of India.
In 1994, he started practice at the Gujarat High Court under the guidance of late Girishbhai D Bhatt.
He was elevated to as a judge of the High Court in October 2021.
