The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer of Chief Justice of Telangana High Court TB Radhakrishnan to take over as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.
The post of the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court fell vacant after Justice DK Gupta retired from the post on December 2018.
The Collegium has resolved to recommend Justice TB Radhakrishnan’s transfer from Telangana High Court to Calcutta stating that appointment to that office needs to be made due to the vacancy which has arisen as a result of the retirement of Justice Gupta. Radhakrishnan J’s parent High Court is Kerala High Court.
“Office of the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court has fallen vacant recently, consequent upon retirement of Mr. Justice D.K. Gupta, Chief Justice of that High Court on 31st December, 2018. Therefore, appointment to that office is required to be made.
The Collegium resolves to recommend that Mr. Justice T.B. Radhakrishnan, Chief Justice, Telangana High Court [PHC: Kerala], be transferred, in the interest of better administration of justice, to Calcutta High Court. “
