Amit Ganatra joins Khaitan & Co as Executive Director in Direct Tax practice

Ganatra will be based out of the firm's Kolkata office.

Amit Ganatra has joined Khaitan & Co as Executive Director in Direct Tax and Private Client practice at the firm's Kolkata office.

Ganatra is a Chartered Accountant and graduated in Commerce from St Xavier's College, Kolkata.

Ganatra has over 19 years of experience in domestic and international tax. He specializes in tax advisory, compliance, tax litigation, treaty taxation. He also specialises in structuring transactions from a tax perspective in mergers, demergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, cross border deals.

He has advised some of the top Indian conglomerates, including India's largest steel producers, and companies engaged in healthcare software development, real estate, and coal handling. He regularly appears and represents clients before the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the Commissioner of Income Tax and the Tax Appellate Tribunal, Kolkata.

Prior to joining Khaitan & Co, Ganatra was a Partner at BDO India LLP for nearly 3 years where he was responsible for building and driving the tax practice in eastern India.

On Ganatra's joining, Amar Sinhji, Executive Director, commented,
