Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM) has issued a notice cautioning the public against fake legal notices purportedly sent in the name of the firm and that of its Executive Chairman Shardul Shroff.

According to the notice, fake email IDs have been made and legal notices impersonating the firm and its Executive Chairman are being sent out to companies in an attempt to defraud the public.

"Some of the notices claim that they are being sent on behalf of "Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. Law Firm", a firm which is no longer in existence. They also contain fake email address, phone numbers etc. of the Firm and Dr. Shardul S. Shroff. The auto signatures in the emails contains a photograph of Dr. Shardul S. Shroff, which is unauthorised," the public notice reads.

The firm clarified that it did not send such notices - some of which were sent for copyright infringement - and urged prudence from the public at large while legal action is initiated against such persons.

Managing Partners Pallavi S Shroff and Akshay Chudasama have reiterated through the notice that neither the firm nor Shardul Shroff have any direct or indirect relations with such unknown persons misrepresenting the firm.
