A Delhi court last week said that it will conduct day-to-day hearings in the money laundering case registered against Lalu Prasad Yadav and several members of his family including Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav in connection with the land for jobs scam.

In an order passed on September 20, Special Judge (PC Act) Vishal Gogne said that the matter will be taken up daily to resolve issues about giving the accused clear copies of case documents.

The hearing will start on October 13.

“The matter shall next be taken up on day to day basis to address any concerns or objections raised by the accused relatable to section 207 Cr.PC from the next date onwards. In order to ensure quick resolution of any probable grievance of the accused persons relating to non supply of legible copies of the supplied documents, it is directed that the ld Counsel for the ED and the ld respective counsels for the accused persons, along with the IO, shall be at liberty to inspect the original court record in the presence of the Ahlmad,” the Court said.

Judge Gogne passed the order while issuing summons on the second supplementary complaint (chargesheet) filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), naming seven more people as accused in the case.

According to the ED, during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s term as Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009, people selected for Group D jobs with the Indian Railways were asked to transfer land to members of his family or associated entities in lieu of those jobs.

The agency claimed that several land parcels in Patna, Delhi and Ghaziabad were acquired at heavily discounted or nominal rates.

According to ED, these land parcels then came into the hands of the various members of the Yadav family including Rabri Devi, Misha Bharti, Hema Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav and amounted to proceeds of crime.
