DLA Piper promotes Indian Capital Markets lawyer to partnership

DLA Piper has recently announced 53 partner promotions worldwide. Indian capital markets lawyer Biswajit Chatterjee has been promoted to partnership in Singapore, along with 6 others in Asia.

Speaking with Bar & Bench, Biswajit said, “It has been an exciting and busy year for us, and we are happy that we have been able to develop a credible presence in India. On the capital markets front, we have focused on a good mix of private transactions and government disinvestments and worked on some of the highest profile deals in India, including on the Coal India IPO. We have also been very active in the inbound and outbound M&A front, as well as on several notable outsourcing transactions. As a firm we have made a serious commitment to India and we continue to expand our team and build on our experience in India”.

Biswajit led the DLA Piper team to bag the largest Government IPO of Coal India in 2010. He joined DLA in September 2008 as a Legal Director in its Singapore office from Allen & Overy. Biswajit, who is dual qualified in India and New York, has significant experience working in India and on Indian transactions, representing issuers and investment banks in a wide range of corporate finance transactions. DLA Piper has been very active on several Indian IPO and QIP transactions in 2010.

In connection with the latest round of promotions, Chairman of DLA Piper Global Board, Francis B.
