Ex-Ashurst, Amarchand lawyer Ran Chakrabarti joins Indus Law as a Partner

IndusLaw has hired Ran Chakrabarti as a Partner in the firm’s New Delhi office.

“Ran will provide the firm with significant capabilities in international debt transactions and enhance our infrastructure and project finance practice”, commented Indus Partner Gaurav Dani in the release.

Ran, who is a graduate of London School of Economics and King’s College London, initially worked in the London and Singapore offices of Ashurst, and White & Case in the finance and projects team before moving back to India to work with Amarchand Mangaldas.

In 2007, he joined Amarchand as a Director in the Project & finance team. He worked there for almost two years after which he set up his own niche practice, advising foreign companies and financial institutions on their inbound India work and Indian companies on their outbound joint ventures and acquisitions.

“I’ve known the team at Indus Law for some time now. It’s great to be joining a vibrant and ambitious practice and grow existing synergies”, said Ran Chakrabarti.

Recently, the firm had also hired Khaitan & Co’s Associate Partner, Nishant Singh as a Partner in its Mumbai Office to work along with Mumbai Partner, Priyanka Roy.
