Government notifies appointment of Ali Zamin as Additional Judge of Allahabad High Court

Shruti Mahajan

The Central Government has notified the appointment of Ali Zamin as an Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court for a period of two years.

The notification to this effect, dated May 2, reads,

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Ali Zamin, to be an Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court, for a period of two years with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.”

Ali Zamin, who was a Judicial Officer, was one of the eleven persons recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium in February 2019 for elevation to the Allahabad High Court.

Zamin was originally considered for elevation as a High Court judge by the Supreme Court Collegium in October last year, along with the names of fourteen others. However, the Collegium found it appropriate that the proposal for his elevation be deferred then.
