Gujarat High Court designates four lawyers as Senior Advocates

The decision was taken at a full court meeting of the High Court held on January 8.

The Gujarat High Court has designated four lawyers including a woman lawyer as Senior Advocates.

The decision was taken at a full court meeting of the High Court held on January 8.

The four lawyers who have been conferred the gown are:

- Amar Niranjan Bhatt;

- Apurva Sharad Vakil;

- Megha Bhupendra Jani; and

- Mitul Kirit Shelat.

While Bhatt and Vakil enrolled as lawyers in 1988 and 1989 respectively, Jani the sole woman in the list was admitted to the bar in 1993.

Shelat is the youngest in the list having enrolled in 1999.

The High Court had recently introduced minimum age criterion of 45 years to be eligible for Senior Advocate designation.
