Justice Biswajit Palit made permanent judge of Tripura High Court

The government decision was taken pursuant to the recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on September 15.

The Central government on September 24 notified the appointment of additional judge Justice Biswajit Palit of the Tripura High Court as a permanent judge of that High Court.

The government decision was taken pursuant to the recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on September 15.

"In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Biswajit Palit, Additional Judge of the Tripura High Court, to be a Judge of that High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," the government notification said.

Justice Palit entered the Tripura Judicial Service in 2001 and went on to serve in 7 out of the 8 judicial districts of the State in various capacities.

He also held important administrative positions such as Member Secretary of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority, Secretary of the Tripura Legislative Assembly and Law Secretary to the Government of Tripura.

He was promoted to the Selection Grade of the Tripura Judicial Service on February 1, 2021 and was elevated as an additional judge of the High Court on October 26, 2023.
