NLU Assam mourns death of third year law student

The University has postponed end-semester examinations for first through fourth years.

A third-year law student at National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) has passed away.

Manikanta Mankala, a third-year student, passed away on June 18 in his hostel room within the University campus. The Student Body Council is awaiting the outcome of an ongoing police investigation to confirm the cause of death.

The University has held a condolence meeting today.

End semester examinations for the first to fourth year batches have been postponed. Fifth year and LL.M exams have not been postponed in view of their prior academic commitments.

A statement issued by the NLUJAA alumni association reads,

"Mr Manikanta was a promising young member of our NLUJA family whose life was tragically cut short. This devastating news has shaken the entire student and alumni community, and we stand united in collective grief and remembrance. Words fall short in the face of such loss, but the Alumni Association extends its unwavering solidarity and heartfelt sympathies to his family, friends, classmates, and all those who knew and cherished him."
