NLU Consortium expert committee invites public comments for CLAT 2027

Suggestions and comments will be accepted till November 4, 2025.

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has invited suggestions, comments and feedback from the public to be implemented via medium and long-term reforms for the undergraduate and postgraduate Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027.

The 4th Advisory Board meeting of the Consortium, with Justice Indu Malhotra as Chairperson, formed a committee of independent academic experts to suggest the proposed reforms.

The Expert Committee includes Professor of Law at St. Hilda’s College, University of Oxford Prof Dev Saif Gangjee; Professor of Public Law at London School of Economics (LSE) School of Law Prof Tarunabh Khaitan; Sol Goldman Professor of Law at Columbia Law School Prof Shyamkrishna Balganesh; Professor and Dean at School of Law, BML Munjal University Prof Pritam Baruah; and Professor of International Law, University of Cambridge Prof Surabhi Ranganathan.

The terms of reference for the expert committee will be

  1. Question quality

  2. Structure of the paper

  3. Syllabus for the entrance examination, and

  4. Review in comparison to entrance exams like LSAT (US), and LNAT (UK).

The Expert Committee seeks feedback relating to the terms of reference, suggestions, comments and feedback from members of the public via this Google Form.

The form will close on November 4, 2025.
