The Allahabad High Court recently issued a contempt of court notice to a man for allegedly recording court proceedings without permission.
The incident occurred during a court hearing in a bail application. The Court observed that Amit Kumar, identified as a supporter of the accused, was recording the proceedings using a mobile device without prior permission.
Justice Krishan Pahal noted,
"This act constitutes a serious interference with the administration of justice and a prima facie case of criminal contempt under the Contempt of Courts Act."
Upon further questioning, Kumar acknowledged that he had recorded the court proceedings using his mobile phone. After this admission, the Court formally issued a show-cause notice to him.
The notice requires him to appear on December 18, 2025 and explain why the Court should not take action against him for contempt of court.
Justice Pahal has asked that the matter be scheduled before a different Bench, noting that it would not be heard by him.
