An Additional City Civil Court in Bengaluru on Tuesday restrained the publication of any derogatory content concerning the Telugu movie Ustaad Bhagat Singh [Mythri Movie Makers v X Corp].
Judge Jeevanarao Vasantrao Kulkarni passed the ex-parte temporary injunction order after the film's producers, Mythri Movie Makers filed a petition against the upload of malicious content regarding the Pawan Kalyan-starrer film ahead of its theatrical release.
In its March 17 order, the court restrained the publication of any such content on X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Google, BookMyShow, IMDb, Facebook, Meta Platforms, etc.
The Court held that the film's producers (plaintiff) had made out a prima facie case for the grant of such relief.
"On perusal of all the documents produced by the plaintiff, I found that there is a prima facie case in favor of the plaintiff , the balance of convenience lies in favor of plaintiff. If the temporary injunction is not granted, the very purpose of filing this suit will be defeated and it may amount to multiplicity of proceedings," the order said.
The temporary injunction order will be in force until the next date of hearing, scheduled on April 27, 2026.
Arguments on behalf of Mythri Movie Makers were led by Advocate Navod Prasannan, Partner at King Stubb and Kasiva (KSK), who was briefed by a KSK team comprising Partners Rahul Mehta, Arpit Choudhury, and Atul Menon, Associate Partner Krunal Mehta, Senior Associate Naren Shetty and Associates Mehak Chaichani and Akalya Ravichandran.
