Central government clears appointment of 7 new judges to Patna High Court

Out of the nine names recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium, advocates Md Nadim Seraj and Sanjeev Kumar have not been cleared by the Central government so far.

The Central government on Wednesday notified the appointment of seven lawyers as judges of the Patna High Court.

While advocates Ranjan Kumar Jha, Kumar Manish and Raj Kumar have been appointed as permanent judges, advocates Rana Vikram Singh, Vikash Kumar, Girijish Kumar, and Alok Kumar have been appointed as additional judges.

The Supreme Court Collegium had in February recommended names of nine Advocates for appointment as judges of the Patna High Court.

Out of the nine, advocates Md Nadim Seraj and Sanjeev Kumar have not been cleared by the Central government so far.

Patna High Court is currently functioning with a strength of 37 judges. It has a sanctioned strength of 53.
