The Karnataka government has appointed a new set of law officers to represent the State before the courts following the recent change in administration.
Advocate BN Jagadeesh has been promoted and appointed as State Public Prosecutor-I, replacing BA Belliyappa. The appointment will remain in force for a period of one year or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The government has also appointed Vijayakumar Majage as State Public Prosecutor-II, while Mohammed Ayub Ali Khan and Rashmi Jadav have been named as an Additional State Public Prosecutors.
The appointments have been made under Rule 23 of the Karnataka Law Officers (Appointments and Conditions of Service) Rules, 1977.
These developments come amid a recent change in the Chief Minister heading the Congress-led government of Karnataka.
As part of a power-sharing arrangement, DK Shivakumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka earlier this month. He succeeded Siddaramaiah, who resigned from the post on May 28.
