The working strength of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh rose to 13 after two new judges were sworn in on Tuesday.

Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal administered the oath of office to Justices Mohammad Akram Chowdhary and Mohan Lal Manhas.

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended their names for elevation to High Court on September 1.

The Collegium had also reiterated the names of lawyers Rahul Bharti and Moksha Kazmi (Khajuria) for judgeship but their names are yet to be notified.

The High Court has a sanctioned strength of 17 judges including 13 permanent judges and 4 additional judges. With the appointment of 2 more judges, the Court currently has only 4 vacancies.
