The Punjab and Haryana High Court has stayed criminal proceedings against 32nd Avenue CEO Dhruv Dutt Sharma in all but one first information report (FIR) registered against him over allegations that he sold a single piece of property to multiple buyers. Justice Subhas Mehla directed the State not to proceed with any of the FIRs except the first one registered at the Gurgaon Civil Lines police station until the next date of hearing.
The said FIR contains charges under Sections 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent), 420 (cheating and dishonesty inducing delivery of property) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
Real estate entrepreneur Sharma, who is also the founder and CEO of the commercial real estate project 32nd Avenue, was arrested in February 2026 for allegedly selling a single unit at 32nd Avenue to over 25 buyers at various points between 2021 and 202
Several FIRs were registered against Sharma prompting him to move the High Court with the present petition.
Senior Advocate RS Rai, appearing for Sharma contended that the registration of multiple FIRs was nothing but an abuse of the process of law. He also argued that no offence punishable under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was made out in the case. At the most, the disputes are between landlord and tenant and there are separate adjudication methods available for resolving the same, he submitted.
Senior Deputy Advocate General Karan Veer Singh appeared on behalf of the State and requested additional time to file a response.
The Court granted the same and issued notice to the private respondents (complainants). It then proceeded to stay proceedings in all except the first FIR registered against Sharma.
Advocates Prabhav Ralli, Sumer Singh Boparai, Rubina Virmani, Surya Pratap Singh, Ankit Jangra, Samraat Saxena and Jasmeet Singh also appeared for Sharma.
